Mobile Update for September 11, 2008

We'll lead in today with app stores.  We'll see a lot of this over the next few years.  It'll be what it was like during the Internet rage of 2000 when everyone has to have a website.  Now, everyone has to have an app store.

So today, T-Mobile threw the public a little bone on what they plan for their app store.  We're not liking it one bit.  Plus, we discussed developers and mobile warriors should expect from a mobile platform and associated services like the app store.

Mobile Devcie Update:
  • Crackberry reports Google app now available on the Blackberry.  Google' blog has more details.  Features include History, Suggestion, Search, and aggregation of other Google products.
  • Microsoft speaks on Zune future and iPod.
  • Yahoo News reports on Verizon's "Open Development" phone.  Verizon should be banned from using the word "open".
  • The Inquirer reports on Nokia's Activesync tie-up.  RIM just can't catch a break.
  • T-Mobile Announced parameters for their app store.  Doesn't look good.  Seriously, why bother, T-Mo?  We've got details.

Mobile Issues:
  • Onxo discusses app store ecosystem.
  • Yahoo News on wireless providers trying to protect turf. Verizon Wireless chief got faced when he asked a question he should have known the answer to already.
  • The Inquirer reports Google will only keep IP data for 9 months instead of 18.  Here is Google's statement on the move.  But why keep it at all?
