Friday Movie Clip: Vancouver Riots, Animated

A couple of things. My friends north of the US, please understand this. As someone who has lived through riots after each and every single time the Lakers has won the NBA Championship, I know what some unruly fans do.

They rioted. But that was only when the Lakers won. When the lackluster Lakers lost in the semi-conference finals to the Mavs a few weeks ago, we cried and cursed and promised to be better next year. But no riots.

See, no need to riot when you lose. You're not supposed to. So, when your Canucks lost, what was the riot for? If anyone had the rights to riot, it was the Boston Bruins fans.

Anyway, your naughtiness was capture in this animated recreation by the folks who brought us the Tiger Woods episode, cartoon-style. If that was your goal all along, you've succeeded. Well done...you're now forever immortalized by the Taiwanese, right up there with Tiger Woods .

Microsoft Innovates And Here's Proof

Okay, so Microsoft has been down on its luck as far as its stock price is concerned. Oh, it is getting its clock cleaned by the iPhone an Android in the mobile market. But here's the thing. IDC predicts that Windows Phone 7 and/or whatever comes after will surge to such proportion that by 2015, it'll be the second most popular mobile platform on the planet.

Skeptical? Sure, who wouldn't be. But watching this Windows 8 video from Microsoft. Who says Microsoft does not innovate anymore?

Toy Story 3 And Owls

If you don't know this, it's been 11 years since Toy Story 2. That's how Steve Jobs likes to do it. Until they were okay with the whole story and graphics, Pixar was not going to do a Toy Story 3. Imagine had Disney produced a straight-to-video version like ousted CEO Michael Eisner (he did make Disney a force to be reckoned with) wanted.

But as I was trying to find the show-times to take my nephew to watch the movie this weekend, I came across "Legend of the Guardians Owls of Ga'Hoole". I thought "wow, first penguins and now owls". Well, it's by the same folks who brought us "Happy Feet".  And I like "Happy Feet".

Toy Story 3 opens this weekend! Owls will be released September 24, 2010.

Friday Movie: Stargate Universe

Okay, it's Sunday...got my time a bit wrong..late.

Anyway, this is this week's clip.  It's from the new SyFy series, Stargate Universe.  For SG-1 and Atlantis fans, this is a far different and appears to be a darker take on the Stargate realm.

And for the most part, I'm loving it.  Can't wait for its debut this fall!



When they cancelled SG-1, fine, it was a long series and needed to move along.  When MGM and SyFy cancelled Atlantis, that was a wrong move.  I'm hoping they make it up with Universe.  And they'll have mobile gears.  Not the types we use but much cooler.

Friday Movie - Astronauts Messing Around

Here is this week's Friday movie (clip).  Again, I do this on the blog because at my old work, we used to take off on Fridays to watch a movie if we get our work completed on time.

In that tradition, I'm continue the practice whenever there is a clip I think you would like to watch (we didn't go watch a movie every Friday.  Some weeks, there are no new movie even worth skipping work for).

This week's clip is from the International Space Station where an intrepid astronaut, and I mean intrepid because he agreed to go on camera for it and might effectively end his spacefaring career, demonstrates the kind of fun you can have in zero gravity.

Friday Movie - Pixar's Toy Story 3 Trailer

Today's Friday movie (clip) is from the next Pixar movie, Toy Story 3!

Though by the 3rd film, most studios are just milking it until the franchise dies. But with Pixar (Jobs still around), that won't be the case. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Friday Movie Clip

Hello again. It's that time of the week where we watch our Friday movie clip thing. Again, this tradition started while I was in college, when movie tickets were $3.50 for a matinee and Fox in Westwood, California was (is) one of the better theaters to watch movies.

This week's movie is ABC's upcoming series, V. I've been waiting for this for a long time. It's here. It's looking awesome and I hope V and sci-fi fans will flock to this show and support in next season.

Friday Movie

Today's movie is soething quite different from what I normally post.  No SNL or ppolitics.  No Comedy Central.

This is a clip with mobility involved.  Specifically, it's from the company that made the iPhone app, Ocarina, a flute.  And it's on the app store for only 99 cents.  I tried it a couple of days already.  Stopped only because the battery gave out.

Friday's Movie

Friday's movie was a bit late.  It was a long and exciting week.  We had two elections.  One for the 44th President of the United States and leader of the free world.  The other was FCC's white spaces approval for wireless broadband use.

Now, it's the weekend and here this Friday's clip.  It's an interesting clip that is different from the SNL flavors that we selected in the last few weeks because of the election.  This one came from Dave the Mobile Warrior.
