First Sunrise Since Spring for Antarctic Research Station

Most of us take sunrises for granted.  I know I do.  Sunsets too.

For folks on the poles of our little home we called Earth, it's different.  And for scientists at the Concordia research station in Antarctica, this is what greeted them this morning.

First sunrise at Concordia

It's not much but if you've been in the dark since May, this is a pretty big deal.  Of course on the side in the Arctic, it's been pretty sunny.  I'm sure they're looking for a sunset now.

Of course, if they had gone through anything like 30 Days of Night, a sunrise is an even bigger deal.
